In our modern society, dementia has become a prevalent issue that we are facing. In order to advocate for the rights of this group, we have designed a search assistance wristband called “Window,” offering a comforting solution for dementia patients and their families.
The design draws inspiration from concepts of warmth and vitality. On the right side of the panel, a transparent acrylic window is embedded, embodying the idea of transparency. This enables users to revisit and connect their cherished life stories. The acrylic window faces the user, reducing feelings of unease while providing privacy. Moreover, this window could potentially be personalized with engravings, further enhancing the desire to wear it.
On the left side of the panel’s front edge, a fluorescent decorative panel is incorporated, symbolizing guidance for dementia patients to find their way back home. In the central flat area of the panel, the patient’s identification number and a hotline for assistance could be engraved or printed, aiding in locating missing individuals.
The wristband’s identification number doesn’t reveal personal information; instead, it requires third-party inquiry to contact family members. This design aims to ensure the safety of dementia patients while providing essential assistance and support. Through the design and launch of the “Window” search assistance wristband, our goal is to raise awareness about the rights of dementia patients in society and allow them to continue their daily lives more comfortably and securely.
